HopeGo - PRIVACY STATEMENT
Last updated: September 15, 2026
HopeGo is a mobile and web app that puts Bible-based programs and lessons in your hands so you can read them, download them, and use them in your own life and ministry. We are committed to protecting your personal information and to being clear about what the app does with it.
We use your personal information in line with our responsibilities under applicable law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 and the UK Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018. Processing of your personal information is carried out by HopeGo.
HopeGo is a program of the non-profit For You Marketing, LLC and is designed to share hope with young people around the globe. When we use the terms "we", "us" or "our", we refer to HopeGo.
For You Marketing, LLC is registered at 600 SW 3rd Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060.
This privacy notice explains what information the HopeGo app collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have — including how to sign out and how to have your data deleted.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Statement, please get in touch with us:
Email: hello@hopego.app
What is personal information?
Personal information is information that identifies you or relates to you as an individual — for example your name, your email address, or a user id tied to your account — together with anything you choose to share with us.
Some information is more sensitive. Because HopeGo is a Christian ministry app, the fact that you use it could be taken to suggest religious beliefs. We keep that in mind in everything we do with your information and use it only as described in this notice.
What information does the app collect?
HopeGo is built to work without an account. What the app processes depends on how you use it:
• App usage (all users). The app uses Firebase Analytics, a Google service, to record usage events such as the app being opened, screens being viewed, a lesson being downloaded, a "download all" being started, or the cache being cleared. With each event Firebase records device and app information — device model, operating system version, app version, language, an approximate country or region derived from the IP address, and a random app-instance identifier. We do not collect an advertising identifier and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• Your YouVersion account (only if you sign in). Signing in is optional and uses the YouVersion Platform. When you sign in, YouVersion shares your YouVersion user id, your name, your email address and, where available, your profile picture with the app so it can show who is signed in and unlock downloads.
• Your sign-in record (only if you sign in). After you sign in, the app tells HopeGo’s server that you did. The server confirms the sign-in with YouVersion and records your name, email address, YouVersion user id, the dates of your first and most recent sign-in, and how many times you have signed in. This record is kept in Workbooks, the customer relationship management (CRM) system used by OneHope, the ministry behind HopeGo’s programs, so the ministry can understand who uses its resources and follow up with you.
• Content requests (all users). Lessons, thumbnails, images and videos are delivered from Bynder and Cloudflare. Like any internet service, those servers keep standard technical logs that may include your IP address, the time of the request and the type of device or app that made it. These logs are used to run and secure the service, not to build a profile of you.
• Verse of the Day (all users). Each day the app asks YouVersion for the verse of the day in your language. YouVersion receives a standard web request, including your IP address, but not your identity, and we do not link that request to you.
• Stored on your device only. Downloaded lessons, cached thumbnails, your reading highlights and notes, and your preferences (such as theme and text size) are kept on your own device. They are not sent to us, and they are removed when you clear the cache in Settings or delete the app.
• Shared review notes (web reader only). When HopeGo is opened in a web browser, a lesson can carry margin notes that are shared with everyone who opens that lesson. If you add a note, the text you write and the display name you enter are stored on HopeGo’s server and shown to other readers. This feature does not exist in the mobile app, and nothing about your reading is shared unless you post a note.
The app does not ask for access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos, and it does not process payment information.
Children and young people
HopeGo is designed to share hope with young people, and reading or downloading content never requires an account. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, please ask a parent or guardian before signing in with a YouVersion account. YouVersion applies its own age requirements to its accounts.
How and why do we use your information?
We use the information described above to:
• Run the app and deliver its content to you, including offline downloads.
• Understand which programs and lessons are used, on what kinds of devices, so we can improve the app and the content.
• Know who uses the ministry’s resources and follow up with you — for example about the programs you use or how to use them in your ministry.
• Keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and diagnose problems.
• Meet our legal obligations and respond to your requests.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests to operate, secure and improve the app and to understand who uses our ministry resources, and on your consent when you choose to sign in with YouVersion. You can withdraw that consent at any time by signing out and asking us to delete your record (see "Your account and how to delete it").
Who do we share your information with?
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
We work with the following service providers, who act on our instructions:
• Google (Firebase Analytics) — usage analytics for the app.
• YouVersion (Life.Church) — the sign-in provider and the source of the Verse of the Day. Your YouVersion account is governed by YouVersion’s own privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — hosts HopeGo’s server and delivers content.
• Bynder — stores and delivers the app’s lessons, images and videos.
• Workbooks — the CRM system in which OneHope keeps your sign-in record.
• OneHope — the ministry behind HopeGo’s programs, which uses the sign-in record to understand and follow up with people who use its resources.
These providers see only the data needed to provide their service. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of HopeGo, our users or others.
The app contains links to third-party websites and services, such as YouVersion. Once you leave the app, this privacy notice no longer applies and the privacy policy of that service governs.
Your account and how to delete it
HopeGo does not have accounts of its own. When you sign in, you use a YouVersion account, and YouVersion — not HopeGo — holds and manages that account.
• Signing out. Open Settings in HopeGo and sign out. This removes the session from your device. It does not delete your YouVersion account or the sign-in record described above.
• Managing or deleting your YouVersion account. Use your account settings at https://www.youversion.com or in the YouVersion Bible app, or contact YouVersion support. HopeGo cannot delete a YouVersion account for you.
• Deleting your HopeGo sign-in record. Email info@hopego.app and tell us the email address you signed in with. We will delete your record from our server and from the CRM and confirm when it is done.
• Removing data from your device. Clear the cache in Settings or delete the app. This removes downloaded lessons, thumbnails, highlights and preferences.
• Analytics. Usage events are not tied to your name or email address. If you would like the analytics data associated with your device’s app instance deleted, email us and we will ask Firebase to delete it.
• Shared review notes (web). To remove a note you posted in the web reader, delete it there or email us with the lesson and the note.
How do we protect your information?
We use technical and organizational safeguards to keep your personal information secure. Data travels encrypted (HTTPS) between the app and our servers. Access to our server and to the CRM is limited to people who need it, and the credentials for the CRM never leave our server.
No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we review our safeguards and limit what we collect so that there is less to protect.
How long do we keep your personal information?
We keep your sign-in record for as long as needed for the purposes above or until you ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained according to Firebase’s data-retention settings, after which it is aggregated or deleted. Data stored on your device stays there until you clear the cache, sign out, or delete the app.
What about international transfers of personal information?
HopeGo is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process your information in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom. Legal protections in those countries may differ from those in your own.
Where required, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or our providers’ equivalent commitments. By using the app you acknowledge that your information may be processed outside your country.
What are your rights?
Data protection law gives you rights over your personal information, including the right to:
• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate information corrected.
• Have your information erased.
• Restrict or object to our processing of it.
• Receive a copy of the information you gave us in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent where our processing relies on it.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@hopego.app and tell us the email address you signed in with, so we can find your record. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request.
How to make a complaint or raise a concern
For questions about this notice, or to make a complaint about how we handle your personal information, contact us at info@hopego.app.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can raise your concern with the data protection authority in your country. In the European Union, the European Data Protection Board lists the national authorities:

When do we change this notice?
We will update this notice when the app changes in a way that affects your personal information. The current version is always available in the app’s Settings and on our website, and the "Last updated" date at the top tells you when it last changed. Please check it occasionally.

ARTICLE 3: USE OF THE SERVICE
1. The Organization may at any time make functional, procedural or technical changes to the Service, and may temporarily or permanently suspend, restrict or discontinue the Service or any Content.
2. The Content is provided for the User’s personal use and for use in ministry — for example reading, teaching, leading a small group, or sharing a lesson with the young people the User serves. Use of the Service is at the User’s own risk and responsibility.
3. The User agrees not to use the Service in a way that is inconsistent with the Organization’s positive message, and in particular not to:
• Sell the Content, charge for access to it, or use it for commercial purposes without the Organization’s express written permission.
• Scrape, crawl, bulk-download by automated means, or otherwise extract Content or Information from the Service to build another product, service or dataset.
• Remove copyright or attribution notices, or alter Content in a way that misrepresents its source or meaning.
• Reverse-engineer the app, or circumvent its security or access controls.

• Engage third parties to do any of the above.
1. Notes are visible to every reader of the lesson. The User is responsible for what they post, must not post unlawful, abusive or misleading material or another person’s personal information, and accepts that Notes may be copied by other readers. The Organization may edit, remove or refuse any Note, and may withdraw the ability to post Notes, at its sole discretion.
2. The Service contains links to third-party websites and services that the Organization does not control, such as YouVersion. The Organization is not responsible for their content, privacy policies or practices.
ARTICLE 4: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
1. The Intellectual Property Rights in the Service, including the app and the Content, are held by the Organization or its licensors, including its Partners.

3. Bible text shown in the Service, including the Verse of the Day, is provided by YouVersion and its publishers and is subject to their licence terms.
4. Intellectual Property Rights in Notes remain with the User who posted them. By posting a Note, the User grants the Organization a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable right to store, reproduce and display the Note as needed to provide the Service, and waives moral rights in the Note to the extent permitted by law.
5. The User guarantees that no third-party rights prevent them from posting a Note or granting the licence above.
6. Nothing in these Terms transfers any Intellectual Property Rights to the User. The User must refrain from any act that infringes the Intellectual Property Rights of the Organization or its Partners, including registering confusingly similar names or trademarks, or reproducing, modifying, reverse-engineering or publishing the Service or the Content for purposes beyond those permitted here.
ARTICLE 5: PRIVACY
1. All personal information the Service processes about the User is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable laws and regulations.
ARTICLE 6: ACCOUNTS
1. Signing in to the Service uses a YouVersion account. The account is created, held and managed by YouVersion under YouVersion’s own terms; the Organization does not operate accounts of its own.
2. The User is responsible for keeping their YouVersion account secure and for activity in the Service under it.
3. The Organization may restrict or terminate a User’s access to signed-in features of the Service where it reasonably believes these Terms have been breached.
ARTICLE 7: INDEMNITIES AND WARRANTIES
1. The User indemnifies and holds harmless the Organization against damages and costs incurred as a result of: (i) the User’s breach of these Terms and Conditions for Use, (ii) any use the User makes of the Service, or (iii) the User’s unlawful act.
2. The User guarantees the correctness and lawfulness of any Note or other material they provide through the Service.
3. The User guarantees that they are entitled to use the Service and will act in accordance with these Terms and Conditions for Use.
ARTICLE 8: LIABILITY
1. The Service and the Content are provided "as is". The Organization accepts no liability for damages resulting from providing the Service, except where caused by the Organization’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and except where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
2. Any right to compensation is conditional upon the User reporting the damage in writing to the Organization as soon as possible after it occurs. Any claim for compensation against the Organization expires twelve months after the damage first arose.
ARTICLE 9: NOTIFICATION OF UNLAWFUL CONTENT
1. The Organization is not liable for damages connected with inappropriate use of the Service by a User. After receiving a sufficiently precise and substantiated notification, the Organization will make every effort to remove or block access to inappropriate material.
2. Alleged unlawful or infringing material in the Service, including in Notes, can be reported to the Organization at info@hopego.app.
3. The Organization may refuse a request to remove or block material where it has reasonable grounds to doubt the accuracy of the notification or where a balancing of interests requires otherwise. In such situations, the Organization may require an order from a court of competent jurisdiction.
4. The Organization will not be a party to disputes between the reporting person and any third party arising from or connected to a notification.
5. The reporting person indemnifies and holds harmless the Organization against all third-party claims related to the blocking or removal of material, including related damages, costs and legal assistance.
6. The Organization respects the privacy of people who submit notifications. Personal information received in a notification is processed in accordance with applicable privacy laws and used only to handle the notification.
ARTICLE 10: TERMINATION
1. The User may stop using the Service at any time by signing out and deleting the app. The Privacy Policy explains how to have the User’s sign-in record deleted.
2. The Organization may restrict or terminate a User’s access to the Service, or remove Notes, for any reason, including where it believes the User has breached these Terms and Conditions for Use.
3. In the event of termination for cause, no reversal will take place of what the Organization has already delivered or performed.
4. On the User’s request, the Organization will remove Notes the User posted through the Service.
ARTICLE 11: MISCELLANEOUS
1. These Terms and Conditions for Use, and the use of the Service, are governed by the law of the United States.
2. To the extent mandatory national or international law does not prescribe otherwise, any dispute arising from or related to the Service or these Terms and Conditions for Use will be brought before the competent court.
3. The Organization may transfer rights and obligations arising from these Terms and Conditions for Use to third parties and will notify the User accordingly.
4. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions for Use is or becomes invalid for any reason, this does not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. The invalid provision will be replaced by a valid provision whose effect is as close as possible to the original.
